Start Date: November 14, 2022
End Date: April 6th, 2023
Classes are Mondays through Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., and 4 hours online each week
This is a 300 hours introductory course designed to prepare graduates for an entry-level job as a welder or metal fabricator. This is supported by a MA Career Technical Initiative grant, and there is no cost to eligible participants. Eligibility determination and enrollment is done through the MassHire Career Center.
The student will learn MIG (GMAW, TIG (GTAW), and Stick (SMAW) welding, as well as oxy-acetylene cutting. Basic shop math and basic blueprint reading will be covered to prepare students for a work setting. Weld process training will be emphasized so students master different weld styles. Students will work towards their SENSE certificate which will demonstrate they have learned a comprehensive set of minimum standards established by the American Welding Society.
