Course Level 1- 1 year
This course introduces students to the National Electrical Code as well as the Massachusetts Electrical Cod. It begins with the basics of electricity, such as AC/DC theory, jobsite safety, licensing requirements and review of the NEC, especially articles 90 and 110.
Course Level 2- 1 year
This course expands students’ knowledge of the National Electrical Code as well as the Massachusetts Electrical Code. It also builds on Level 1 basics and expands into grounding and bonding theory, raceways, use and sizing of boxes and different wiring methods.
Course Level 3- 1 year
This course builds on course 1 and 2 teachings on the National and Massachusetts Electrical Codes. It also goes into depth on circuitry, three phase networks, power factors and its relation to cost, and calculations related to voltage drop and branch circuits. Fire alarms, poos, communications cabling, and electrical motor sizing and wiring will also be reviewed.
Course Level 4- 1 year
This course will provide final review of the National and Massachusetts Electrical Codes to prepare apprentices for the Journeyman Electrician’s exam. Calculations fort cooking appliances and dryer equipment will be covered, as well as laws and regulations for operating a successful electrical business.
