In May 2025, the Massachusetts Board of Elementary and Secondary Education approved new regulations to expand statewide access to Career Technical Education (CTE) schools and programs. A major change is the adoption of a lottery-based admissions process, which will take effect for applications to the 2026–2027 school year.
When the number of applicants exceeds available seats, admissions will now be determined by lottery. Because space is limited, an admissions process is required for CTE schools in accordance with MGL 603 CMR 4.00. At Greater Lawrence Technical School (GLTS), all applicants to grades 9–12 will be reviewed following this policy.
