Carpentry

Carpentry students working on an outdoor construction project at GLTS

Program Description

From blueprint to build, the Carpentry program immerses students in the hands-on world of residential construction. With a focus on the Community House Building Project, students gain real-world experience by constructing homes while learning every aspect of the trade.

Under the guidance of experienced instructors, students master hand and power tool usage, building design, plan reading, layout, and material selection. Coursework incorporates carpentry mathematics, state building codes, and proper construction methodologies, ensuring students graduate with the knowledge and skills to excel in the industry.

Through each phase of the house-building process, students develop precision, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork—essential qualities for careers in carpentry and construction management. Whether entering the workforce or continuing their education, students leave the program prepared to build a strong foundation for their futures.
