Early Education & Care

Early Education and Care students working with young children in the classroom at GLTS

Program Description

For students passionate about working with young children, the Early Education & Care program provides the foundation for a career in early childhood education. This program prepares students for employment as lead teachers, teacher aides, and assistants while offering valuable training for those seeking further education in the field. Designed to meet the Department of Early Education and Care (DEEC) requirements, this program provides hands-on experience working with infants, toddlers, and school-aged children.

Students will learn to create engaging lessons and activities that support a child's physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development. Emphasizing a safe and healthy environment, students follow all DEEC and OSHA regulations. Graduates of this program leave high school with a Lead Teacher license from the DEEC, after completing 150 hours of direct childcare experience, OSHA training, CPR/First Aid certification, and Strong Start certifications.
