HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, & Refrigeration)

Student welding in HVAC shop

Program Description

The HVAC/R industry plays a crucial role in maintaining indoor comfort and energy efficiency. The HVAC/R program equips students with the skills required to install, maintain, and troubleshoot state-of-the-art heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems.

Through a blend of classroom instruction and hands-on learning, students gain expertise in temperature control theory, system design, installation, and repair. They also study shop math, mechanical drawing, applied physics, chemistry, electronics, and blueprint reading, ensuring a well-rounded education.

Safety is a top priority—before using hand and power tools, soldering torches, or ladders, students must complete comprehensive safety training. Graduates leave the program with Hotworks, OSHA 10, and EPA 608A certifications, as well as documented shop and classroom hours applicable to apprentice training. This ensures they are prepared for careers in residential, commercial, and industrial HVAC/R fields.
