Emotional Wellness Tips: Getting Your Mind Right in These Times

Get Proper Sleep

Proper sleep is healthy sleep, which is between 7–9 hours daily. It's vital to your health and it allows you to better manage stress. Get better sleep by limiting your intake of caffeine, alcohol and electronics. You might want to limit those naps as well.

Be Around Positive People

Birds of a feather do flock together; the more positive people you're around, the better your life. Being around the right company brightens your attitude, makes you happier, earns you more money and increases longevity.

Practice Positivity

If you have areas where you think negatively (ex. job or relationship), focus on one and create a positive thought around it. Practice reinforcing a positive thought around that area. You can methodically approach each negative thought that way.

Get a Hobby

Hobbies reduce stress. They also allow you to enter into a "flow state". In this state, you become completely immersed in your hobby where time flies and your sense of self disappears. These are good things, invigorating things.

Relax More

Meditating, practicing yoga or taking a walk in nature are great activities that promote relaxation. Activities that incorporate mindfulness and breathing like tai chi also work.

Say 'No' More Often

Sounds hard but it's so worth it, especially with people who have no boundaries and overstay their welcome. Saying "no" sets boundaries, fosters mental stability, and increases your self-esteem and confidence.

Creative Expression

Creative expression allows for mindful creativity, improves thinking and focus, elevates mood, reduces anxiety, increases social connections, and many other additional benefits to one's mental wellness.
