Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC)
The Greater Lawrence Technical School Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) is a volunteer organization of parents and guardians of children with disabilities. SEPAC provides a forum for learning about special education, fostering collaboration with school administration, and working to improve educational experiences for students with special needs.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Greater Lawrence Technical School SEPAC is to promote understanding, respect, support, and appropriate education for all children with special needs within our community.
Purpose
The purpose of SEPAC is to provide information, resources, and support to families of children with special needs. To achieve this, SEPAC works to:
- Advise the Director of Special Education and the District Committee on the operation and development of special education programs.
- Foster better communication and understanding between parents/guardians and school officials.
- Build a network of support among parents with shared experiences.
- Meet regularly with school officials to participate in the planning, development, and evaluation of special education programs at Greater Lawrence Technical School.
- Promote community awareness and advocate for the inclusion and acceptance of children with special needs.
- Organize informational forums for parents, educators, students, and professionals involved in special education.
Membership
General membership is open to all residents of the Greater Lawrence Technical School District, including Methuen, Lawrence, Andover, and North Andover.
General meetings are held monthly from September through June. Meeting notices, including time, date, and purpose, are posted on the school website and communicated via phone (ConnectEd) or mail to SEPAC members in advance.
